- Weekly porta potty servicing includes 4 steps: pump-out, wash-down, restock, and fresh deodorizer.
- Construction and remodel rentals bill every 28 days, with weekly service included in that price.
- One standard unit with weekly service fits a crew of about 10 workers on a 40-hour week.
- A unit that is more than about 3/4 full before service day is a sign you need an extra visit or a 2nd unit.
- Event units arrive clean and stocked but get no service during a 1-day event unless you add it.
Porta potty servicing is the weekly visit that keeps a rental clean and usable. On each visit, the technician pumps out the waste tank, washes down the inside, restocks toilet paper and hand sanitizer, and adds fresh deodorizer. Long-term rentals include 1 service per week, and big crews can add extra visits.
What does weekly porta potty service include?
Weekly porta potty service includes four steps: a pump-out of the waste tank, a wash-down of the seat, walls, floor, and urinal, a restock of toilet paper and hand sanitizer, and a fresh charge of blue deodorizer in the tank. The technician also checks that the unit sits level and the door latches.
- Pump-out: a vacuum hose empties the tank into the service truck.
- Wash-down: the inside surfaces are sprayed and wiped, including the seat and urinal.
- Restock: fresh toilet paper rolls and a hand sanitizer refill.
- Deodorizer: clean water and deodorizer go back into the tank to control odor.
The vent and door hinges get a quick look too. If something is broken, we swap or repair it. Deluxe units with a sink also get a fresh water refill.
How often does a porta potty need service?
A porta potty needs service once a week for a crew of about 10 workers on a normal 40-hour week. Larger crews, longer shifts, or hot weather fill tanks faster. Crews of more than about 10 workers per unit should add a 2nd weekly visit or a 2nd unit to stay clean.
| Crew size | Units with weekly service | Or |
|---|---|---|
| 1–10 workers | 1 unit | — |
| 11–20 workers | 2 units | 1 unit with 2 visits per week |
| 21–30 workers | 3 units | 2 units with 2 visits per week |
| 31–50 workers | 4–5 units | Units plus a hand wash station and extra visits |

How does service fit the 28-day billing cycle?
Construction, long-term, and home remodel rentals bill every 28 days, and weekly service is included in that price. A 28-day cycle covers 4 service visits, and the rental rolls over to the next cycle until you call for pickup. Extra service visits, if you add them, show as separate lines on your itemized quote.
Your quote lists the unit rate, delivery and pickup, servicing, any same-day fee, and tax. Invoices come by text or email, and you can pay by card. Learn more on our construction porta potty rental page and in our rental terms.
What are the signs you need extra service?
The clearest sign you need extra porta potty service is a tank that is more than about 3/4 full before the weekly visit. Other signs include strong odor, empty toilet paper by midweek, and workers leaving the site to find a restroom. Any of these means you should add a visit or a 2nd unit.
- Waste is visible near the top of the tank before service day.
- Odor is strong even with the door closed.
- Toilet paper or sanitizer runs out in 3 or 4 days.
- Lines form at breaks and lunch.
- The crew grew after the unit was delivered.
Federal rules also expect job site sanitation to stay clean; 29 CFR 1926.51 says washing facilities must be kept sanitary. Hot weeks speed all of this up. Our summer heat guide covers placement and service tips for Alabama summers.
How are event units different from job site units?
Event porta potties arrive cleaned and stocked, but they get no service during the event unless you add it. A job site unit gets weekly service for as long as it stays. Event units use a flat event rate, drop off the day before, and are picked up the next business day.
For a 1-day party, one clean, stocked unit per group size usually holds up fine. For multi-day events or big crowds, ask about mid-event service. See event porta potty rental for details.
What should I do if a porta potty is full or tipped?
A porta potty that is full or tipped should be closed off and reported right away. Lock or tape the door so no one uses it, keep people back from any spill, and call (256) 540-7374. We will pump, clean, set it upright, or swap the unit during business hours, Monday through Saturday.
Do not try to lift a tipped unit by hand, since the tank can still hold liquid. Keep kids and pets away from the area. Do not add bleach or cleaners to the tank, because they can make pumping harder.
